In 1881, in a Texas town named Sealy, a cotton gin builder filled a request for a cotton-filled mattress. And then another. And then another. His business grew exponentially, which led to more innovations and several patents.

Sealy has gone a step further than most, by forming the Orthopedic Advisory Board (OAB) - a group of the finest doctors, clinicians and orthopedic surgeons who play a critical role in the design process. The doctors apply the extensive expertise they've gained while helping their patients sleep better to the design of Sealy Posturepedic mattresses to help the rest of the world sleep better.

The OAB and Sealy have also worked hand in hand to create the Pressure Mapping Lab Center of Excellence, a first-of-its-kind facility where all Sealy Posturepedic mattresses are scientifically tested to ensure that they provide maximum comfort by eliminating the uncomfortable pressure points that cause tossing and turning. Sealy Posturepedic is the only mattress brand in the industry that has strict pressure-relieving standards for every one of its mattresses.
